Who we are
I, John, the author of this site, am part of a group of people who follow Jesus and
see Him as the key to a life of fulfillment. We live in the S/E part of Australia. We
have all accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. There are people in this group from
Evangelical, Charismatic, Pentecostal & Traditional backgrounds
What we believe
God: There is only one true God. He created the heavens and the earth.
He exists as three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Man: Man was created by God to have fellowship with Him. God created
men and women and gave them dominion over the earth. Man rebelled and broke the fellowship
with God.
Jesus Christ: Jesus is the Son of God. He was sent to earth by the
Father to live a perfect life and then to die as a sacrifice for our sin, our rebellion
against God.
Salvation: Only by coming to Jesus, believing in Him and accepting
His sacrifice can we be saved from eternal separation from God. There is nothing we can do
to earn salvation. It is a gift of God to all who turn to Him, repent of their sins and
accept Jesus.
Heaven: All who accept Jesus, repent and are baptised during this
lifetime here on earth will spend eternity with God in Heaven. Heaven is a place of great
joy.
Satan: Satan was once an angel who dwelt in the throne room of God.
He rebelled against God and was thrown out of heaven. A large number of angels also
rebelled and were thrown out with him. He and his fallen angel (demons) now live to cause
havoc here on earth and lead people away from finding their way to Jesus.
Hell: Hell is a place of eternal torment created for Satan and all
the other angels who rebelled. Any people who die without coming to Jesus will also go
there.
Good Works: Having chosen to follow Jesus, there is nothing more we
need to do to earn salvation. However, God's goal for us is to have a relationship with
Him. To do this, we must turn away from worldly passions and love Him and love all the
people He created. We have each been given different abilities. Each person is to work
out how he can best show God's love by using his or her abilities to help those around
him or her.
The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit was sent to be with us. He dwells
inside of anyone who has given his or her life to Jesus. He instructs us, helps us through
difficult times and also gives us gifts (new abilities) to enable us to better help those
around us.
The Bible: The Bible is the inspired word of God. It the only book
inspired by God and is the final authority on all matters of this life in Jesus.
Evangelical, Charismatic, Pentecostal, Traditional
We do not support any of these systems to the exclusion of the others. We believe that
there are genuine followers of Jesus in all of these groups. Beware of any group that
teaches that their church or denomination is the only one that knows the truth. By their
fruit you will know them.
Unfortunately, there are also people who believe all religions are valid and lead to
God. Only those who accept Jesus Christ as their saviour, make Him Lord by repenting of
their sins and are baptised are truly saved. Again, by their fruit you will know them.
This fruit is detailed in Galatians 5:22,23.
Galatians 5:22,23 (ESV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Why we made this site
There is a lot of material available on the subject of relationship with Jesus and even
evangelism. As far as we have seen, there is very little material on the subjects of
discipleship and multiplication. Furthermore, we have seen many people who have spent a
long time living a 'Christian' life but have been taught very little of anything about
Jesus. This means they are still infants in the faith, unable to move forward without
someone else leading them. I believe we are coming into a time of awakening when many
people will come to know Jesus. These will be people with no church background and will
need material like this to get started on their journey in discipleship.
The Journey So Far ....
Two churches ago, I had a team of committed people who were keen to do great things for
the Lord. Most people from that team have moved on, one couple even starting their own
church. The one who stayed is now in a leadership position.
At the next church I went to, I began a new team of committed people. I think many
wanted me to stay there but the Lord called me to move on again. That team continues.
Discipleship means teaching people sufficiently so they can continue on their own.
Where I am now, I do not yet have a team as such and yet I seem to be surrounded by
people whom I believe will become another key team of awesome, committed people. Of course
I still work with people from previous groups and churches where this is practical.
Where are you now? I want you to be a mover and a shaker like I am. If you want a nice
peaceful life where you have a comfortable position in one church forever, this site is
not for you. I go wherever the Lord tells me. I am constantly having to make new friends.
There have been some really tough times along the way. Those stories will never appear on
this web-site as various institutions may be offended. We are to forgive those who have
offended us and not to speak negatively (except when we have a clear mandate from the
Lord, and even then it must only be to those to whom we are told to speak)
I would especially like to thank The Navigators for teaching me discipleship, Willow
Creek, Bethel and especially IHOP-KC for keeping me going. We are coming into a more
difficult time but also a more exciting time for those who are committed. You cannot do
it alone. These groups I have mentioned have great resources but nothing will replace
being tied into a local group of committed believers.
