Large Group

What is a Large Group

For most people, a large group is a traditional church. The traditional church is the visible face of Christianity to the world. Unfortunately, in the coming awakening, the church is mostly going to be unprepared for what it needs to do. See my page on church for more information. Within the context of this page, a large group is not a church but a group that can provide support for the small groups. In the world of traditional churches, membership in a church is key and membership in a Bible study group or connect group run by the church is either optional or non existent. Within the vision of this web page, membership in a small group is key and membership in a large group is an option where a large group exists. If persecution of believers in first world countries becomes prevalent, membership in large groups or membership in Bible believing churches may become impossible. Churches that do not believe God's Word will remain and will be encouraged by the state, for a time.

So, How Should a Large Group Function?

A large group should be able provide support for those in small groups. Is should provide:

  • Small group interaction
  • Strategic prayer meetings
  • Mentoring sessions for small group leaders and individual mentors
  • Peer support and accountability for micro church leaders.
  • Teaching on a wide range of relevant discipleship topics.

Special Events

Large groups can also provide logistics for special events which would be outside the scope or capability of a small group. Events such as conferences with external speakers, outreach events, large scale strategic prayer meetings and praise, worship retreats and community service events. There are certainly other events that can be organised by a large group as needs arise and as the Holy Spirit leads.
