This website is designed to help people who are helping new believers and also those
who are new to Jesus and want to grow in a deeper relationship with Him. If you are not
a follower of Jesus and have no desire to become one then there may be nothing of
interest on this site.
If you are a member of a church that already has an active outreach program, then
stick with your church's program. There may be useful information on this site but
this site is meant to support people outside traditional churches. It is important for
everyone who is a follower of Jesus to be in a group of like minded. For most people up
until now, this means being a member of a local church. See the
church page for more information on this topic.
If you want to become a follower of Jesus or are a new follower of Jesus but are not
certain about whether or not you have really become a Christian, begin with the
Decision page.
Once you are certain about being a follower of Jesus, go through the 'activities'
pages to see what things you should be doing. If you are not doing any of these things
at the moment, don't try to suddenly start all of them at once. Once you understand what
the activities are, go to the plan page and determine a
plan for your needs and circumstances.
Follower of Jesus
I use the term 'follower of Jesus' on this site rather than 'Christian' because the
term 'Christian' can have a wide range of meanings. I also use the term 'disciple' as
someone who is serious about learning more about Jesus and applying it to their life.
Activities
Small Group
Being in a small group of people whom you can get to know and trust is the most
important thing you can do towards developing your relationship with Jesus.
Devotions
Spending time alone with God every day, reading His word, The Bible and praying to
Him is another very important activity.
Mentoring
While you are a new follower of Jesus, having someone spend one on one time with you
will help you get started. If you lead someone else to Jesus, you should endeavour to
spend some quality time with them, helping them to get started.
Scripture Memory
It is good to have a group of key Bible verses committed to memory.
Large Group
In the eyes of many, attending church is the most important thing you can do. The
reality is, most people who attend church gain very little from it. There are some
really good churches and attending these may bring great benefit. If the church is
very small, open and friendly, then it may take the place of a small group. Otherwise,
it is essential to be in a small group. Really good churches will run their own small
groups.
Living
Jesus
Jesus is the key to our new life. Being a follower of Jesus or a disciple means
developing a closer relationship with Him and learning more about Him.
Bread
Jesus is the bread of life. He is also the Word (the Bible). As we read and study
the Bible, we learn more about Him.
Wine
In this sense, the wine refers to the Holy Spirit and also time we spend in praise,
prayer and His presence.
Community
We are not meant to live this new life on our own. We are meant to share our journey
with other believers.
Outreach
If we are living the life Jesus intends, we will grow in the fruit of the Spirit.
People will see our changed lives and want to know what's up. We must be ready to talk
to them about it.
